Fire at PCA

A major fire broke out at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium here this afternoon completely gutting its top floor and damaging property worth crores. There was, however, no loss of life.

The fire broke out at around 1 oclock and was apparently caused by a stray spark flying off the welding equipment in use during an ongoing renovation work on the floor. It spread across 11,000 sq ft within minutes fanned by the wind and the highly inflammable material lying on the floor and lining the walls and false ceiling.

Wrigley Field would get new neighbors under developer's proposal for ...

A Chicago developer unveiled plans in the city's Wrigleyville neighborhood Wednesday night for a nine-story, mixed-use development with a hotel that would stand virtually eye-to-eye with Wrigley Field.

Representatives for developer Steven Schultz, who owns land across the street from the ballpark at the north end of the block bounded by Clark and Addison Streets and Sheffield Avenue, met with community members and Ald. Tom Tunney to seek support for the project.

Schultz wants to build two nine-story buildings connected by a four or five-story base, with a Hyatt Place hotel on the Clark Street side and residences at Addison and Sheffield. The hotel would have about 135 rooms, and the other building would contain about 150 rental units. There also would be about 100,000 square feet of commercial space on the land, plus a health club and 500 parking spaces.

Have faith that things may turn out better than you think

Her heavy breathing added a sad background to the sorrowful scene. I prayed for her, but with little faith. Everything seemed to be so settled and final. One week later, however, she came out of the coma and was soon back at her farm home busy about her housework. Visitors there found her as positive and thankful for daily blessings as before her illness. God had granted her more years to serve Him and she was not surprised. Her additional time to live provided this woman of prayer many more opportunities to speak to others about her Lord and His love."I have but one year to live," said a tearful woman who had just received a terminal diagnosis from her doctor."I may not have that long," I replied, stressing the uncertainty of life's duration for all.In caring for the details related to her expected upcoming death, this troubled woman decided to fly to Rhode Island to spend some time with her brother while she had time to do so.
