| Like, OMG! Chevy Goes Green With the Jonas Brothers!
Yes, they're huge — like High School Musical big, but we're not usually ones to cover the Jonas Brothers everyday since, you know, we're a bit older. We're more into the OMG 90210 reunion with Kelly and Dylan! Unfortunately looking at Luke Perry makes me feel old. Thankfully Jennie Garth still looks fabulous - must have been all that dancing. Adorable Abigail is always a favorite since seeing her just brings a smile to our faces. Kate Beckinsale was also at the event at Disney but she was covering up her pretty face more than normal this time around. Bella wants to know, do you love or hate Kate's look? Either way, she doesn't look all that thrilled to be green with Chevy. For a lot more pictures from the event which includes a Baldwin, Jim Belushi, Wayne Brady and more just read more .
Challenges for Netflix 2.0
Users sign up for the service online, pay a flat monthly fee, order DVDs from Netflix's extensive online catalog, and receive them via snail mail. Finished DVDs are mailed back to Netflix shipping facilities scattered across the country, using the same mailers. There are no contracts, no late fees, and no postage charges for users. Netflix shook up the brick-and-mortar rental chains when it appeared on the scene, but it took the company almost five years to turn a profit. Since then, the home entertainment landscape has changed drastically. Netflix did well by riding on the success of the DVD format, but new high-definition formats and distribution methods have upped the ante. On one side, Netflix has to deal with the transition to high-definition physical media such as Blu-ray, and on the other, the encroaching threat of online rental and delivery systems like iTunes.
Personal Finance 101 with H. Swint Friday
We are entering the last weekend before Christmas and I am sure everyone is scrambling to get all of their last-minute shopping and holiday preparations ready. A shopper interviewed by a local TV news crew last week had some obvious but good advice that this is not a time to be stressed, but to enjoy. Easy to say. As adults, many of us have a number of stressful responsibilities on our shoulders at this time of year. One of if not the largest is the financial burden created by the customary holiday celebrations. The other stresses include the time and effort required to make sure the holidays are fun for everyone we care about. The magnitude of these stresses is readily observable as we see suicide rates rise dramatically this time of the year. The best advice I can give is to do the best you can and realize that your financial and personal health and sanity depend on not trying to do, expect or demand too much from the holidays.
Toyota exec, activist clash at L.A. show
The incident occurred at the end of Toyota's press conference, where Bob Carter, vice president and general manager of the Toyota division, was introducing the 2008 Sequoia full-size SUV. When a man asked Carter why Toyota was suing California over carbon-dioxide emissions regulations, Carter noticed that the man's media badge identified him as Dave Schembri, head of Mercedes-Benz's Smart division. Carter knocked the video camera from the man's hands, and security guards separated the two. .
Cameco Announces Progress in Cigar Lake Remediation
In addition, we have just completed a test on the effectiveness of the underground seal. The results are positive and demonstrate that the seal is effective with no indication of plug deterioration throughout the six-day testing period. Additional testing will be conducted as we prepare to dewater the mine. On February 12, 2008, we began testing the effectiveness of the seal by pumping water from the shaft down to approximately 100 metres below surface. When the water was down to that level, the pumps were turned off and we measured the rate at which the water rose in the shaft. The water was allowed to rise to a set elevation before pumping it down again to the 100-metre level. This procedure was repeated a number of times during the test period which ended on February 18, 2008.
The Leonard Lopate Show
Belittling allergies and asthma (and the parents who deal with them) seems to be one of the last prejudices that is allowable in our society. The image of the delicate, nerdy child and overprotective mother still saturates the popular culture. Thanks for making my life just that much harder with this irresponsible piece. .
