CARAG — The former Music-Go-Round building at Lake Street and Fremont Avenues was demolished earlier this month to make way for construction staging for the Calhoun Square parking ramp.It’s a first step toward the Hennepin Avenue & Lake Street center’s long-awaited redevelopment planned to begin this spring. Demolition work and site clearing began Feb. 6 and was scheduled to last seven to 10 days, said the center’s general manager Gayle Siegler, who works for Minnetonka-based Capital Growth Madison Marquette (CGMM). CGMM manages the Calhoun Square property for owner BlackRock, a New York-based investment firm that bought the mall for $47.3 million last August.Development plans were scheduled to go before the city’s Plan Full Article .
IDSS acquires security and alarms company Intact Electronics
ID Support Services Holdings Limited (IDSS) has acquired Bolton based Intact Electronics Limited for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition of Intact, a specialist security and alarms company, further broadens IDSSs service offering.
IDSS employs over 150 people and operates through two trading groups offering support services to blue chip, multi-site customers in the retail, leisure and commercial sectors. Customers include Sainsburys, TK Maxx, Next, Philips, Wilkinsons, Currys and PC World.
Intact Electronics Ltd will be re-branded as ID Intact and operate as a subsidiary of ID Technology Group.
The acquisition of Intact follows record financial performance by IDSS with the business last month announcing a 56% increase in profits to 1.7 million for the year to 30 June, on turnover up 28% to 18.8 million.
How Russia Is Being Nationalized
Nationalization has been the most notable process in the Russian economy for more than four years and it is not too early to ask about intermediary results. Has it lead to radical changes in the economy? Are racing toward a planned economy? In our view, the answer to those questions so far is no. The state sector is growing rapidly but, for the main part, businesses and companies continue to live by market rules. That includes those that have become government property. The point of no return is still far ahead.
Knowing that our view may seem excessively rosy, we will provide one argument for it. We were only able to count five large private businesses that left there historical arenas as a result of processes of nationalization. Those companies are YUKOS, Sibneft, Irkut, Power Machines and the Industrial-Construction Bank of St.

Tata Motors is showcasing a new range of 17 models in cars, utility vehicles, trucks and buses at the 5200-square metre Tata-Fiat pavilion, its largest ever presence at the Auto Expo, being held in New Delhi from January 11-17, 2008. The company launched the new Sumo Grande, Indigo CS (Compact Sedan) and the Indica Direct Injection Common Rail (DICOR) version which will be progressively available in showrooms through January and beginning of February. The new generation Indica, which goes on sale in the latter part of 2008, was also unveiled at the Auto Expo. Also on display, for the first time in India, is the Xenon XT (Cross Terrain), a life style pick-up to be launched later in the year. Tata Motors will be unveiling the much awaited People's Car on January 10.
