German scientists launch space flight with fish to study motion ...
STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) _ German researchers on Thursday launched a rocket carrying 72 small fish on a brief space flight to study motion sickness.
The cichlids were in an unmanned rocket that blasted off from a launch pad in northern Sweden, said Professor Reinhard Hilbig, who was in charge of the project.
The thumbnail-sized fish were filmed as they swam around weightlessly in small aquariums during the 10-minute space flight.
The German team will now study the video to see if some of the fish swam in circles because that is what fish do when they experience motion sickness, said Hilberg, of the Zoological Institute at the University of Stuttgart.
He said the scientists hope the experiment can help shed light on why some people experience motion sickness while others do not because the mechanisms involved are similar for both fish and humans.
Accused bunker shooter's friend says teen often talked 'crazy'
A teen who pleaded not guilty Tuesday to executing a young couple at an abandoned military bunker often talked of "crazy, crazy" things but wasn't taken seriously, one of his closest friends said Tuesday. "It's innocent until proven guilty," Rob Misetic, 18, said of Collin Lee McGlaughlin, whom he has known since 2003, when they were underclassmen at a private La Verne high school. "But if he did it, (he) finally snapped." McGlaughlin, 18, of West Covina, was arraigned on murder charges in San Bernardino County Superior Court in Barstow along with David Brian Smith, 19, of Covina. .

Burglar makes off with two pairs of panties
A Fort Walton Beach burglar recently lifted unmentionables from a mobile home during a break-in. The resident of a Heritage Road mobile home told a deputy she noticed the rear door to her trailer "slightly open," according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office offense report. She also said someone had removed the window unit air conditioner and opened the window. Among the items missing from the home were her son’s Sony Playstation and a controller ($200), about 20 games ($15 each), about 10 DVDs ($15 each) and two pairs of girl’s panties. .
